Six Senses London, the first UK location from the globally renowned wellness hospitality brand, officially opened on 1 March in Notting Hill. Marking a significant moment for London’s luxury hotel scene, the new destination reimagines the historic Whiteley building as a contemporary urban sanctuary rooted in heritage, sustainability and design excellence.

Located in Bayswater, moments from Notting Hill Gate and Hyde Park, Six Senses London brings its signature slow luxury philosophy to one of West London’s most iconic neighbourhoods.

A Historic London Landmark Reborn

The hotel is housed within the meticulously restored Whiteley building, originally opened in 1911 as one of London’s first luxury department stores. The Grade II listed structure has been carefully revitalised, preserving its grand façade, central courtyard, dome and sweeping staircase as architectural anchors that honour its Edwardian past.

This sensitive restoration positions Six Senses London as both a tribute to British architectural heritage and a benchmark for contemporary urban regeneration in West London.

Design by AvroKO and EPR Architects

Interiors were created by internationally acclaimed design studio AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects. The concept blends subtle Art Deco references with warm, modern living spaces that feel distinctly London.

Natural materials, layered textures and serene colour palettes create an atmosphere of calm sophistication. The design moves effortlessly between heritage elegance and contemporary comfort, ensuring the building’s history remains visible while introducing a fresh, wellness driven aesthetic.

British contemporary art is thoughtfully integrated throughout public spaces, grounding the hotel in London’s creative culture and reinforcing a strong sense of place.

A Wellness Destination in Central London

Wellness sits at the heart of Six Senses London. The expansive spa and wellness floor is designed to mirror the rhythm of city life, transitioning from energising social zones to deeply restorative spaces.

A standout feature is the striking 20 metre indoor swimming pool, complemented by a dedicated relaxation area and the signature Alchemy Bar. At the Alchemy Bar, guests can create personalised blends using locally sourced botanicals, reflecting the brand’s experiential approach to wellbeing.

The spa also includes thermal facilities, treatment rooms and movement spaces, positioning Six Senses London as one of the most comprehensive urban wellness destinations in central London.

Six Senses Place: A New Members Concept for West London

Six Senses Place introduces a modern interpretation of the private members club, designed as a social and wellness hub for West London. Conceived as a sophisticated yet welcoming living room, the space encourages connection without pretension.

Members and guests can gather, work, relax and engage in wellness programming within thoughtfully designed interiors that prioritise comfort, community and creativity.

Rooms, Suites and Branded Residences

The hotel offers 109 rooms and suites, many featuring terraces that provide a rare sense of outdoor calm within central London. The design continues the property’s overarching philosophy, balancing tactile materials with understated elegance.

In addition, 14 branded Six Senses residences offer long term living with access to hotel services and wellness facilities, bringing a new dimension of lifestyle hospitality to Notting Hill.

Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café

Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café anchors the hotel’s dining experience with a seasonal British menu that celebrates local producers and modern flavours.

The interiors are light filled and refined, honouring the heritage architecture while embracing contemporary design. The restaurant offers a relaxed yet polished atmosphere that complements the hotel’s holistic ethos.

Sustainability at the Core

Sustainability is embedded into every aspect of Six Senses London. From the adaptive reuse of the historic Whiteley building to responsible material selection and wellness focused design, the project reflects a long term commitment to conscious luxury.

The restoration of this landmark site not only preserves an important piece of London’s history but also redefines how heritage architecture can evolve for modern, environmentally aware hospitality.

A New Era of Luxury in Notting Hill

Six Senses London introduces a new rhythm to the capital’s hotel landscape. By combining architectural heritage, contemporary design, holistic wellness and refined British dining, the property offers an experience that feels both globally informed and locally rooted.

For travellers seeking a restorative escape without leaving London, and for West London residents looking for a sophisticated wellness and social destination, Six Senses London sets a new benchmark for urban luxury in Notting Hill.
